Arm-of-the Sea’s Tidewater Center

Tidewater Center – From the abandoned remains of a 19th-century paper mill, a 21st century Hudson River School of Art and Ecology is rising.  On the shoreline of the Esopus Creek, a neglected relic of the Industrial Revolution is being re-purposed for a new mission.

Ecological Art & Play in the Heart of the Hudson Valley

Arm-of-the-Sea Theater has been bringing to life Hudson River history and ecology for 35+ years. With the same vigor of our visual dramas, we are now transforming a 1.5-acre site on the tidal Esopus Creek in Saugerties NY. The result will be a multi-faceted visitors’ center with environmentally-focused programs and facilities.

When fully developed, the Tidewater Center will encompass:

  • A Performing Arts Center
  • A WaterWorks Playground
  • An Aquatic Classroom
  • Citizen-Science Projects
  • Public Access to Tidewater Fishing
  • A Way-Station for Mariners and Kayakers

Our mission is to create an inspirational place where people can experience the interplay of nature, art, science, and history. We invite you to join us in making the Tidewater Center a resplendent reality.
